Pavilion Cinema

Located in Stanley, County Durham, 5 miles west of Chester Le Street. The Pavilion Cinema was opened on 9th April 1922. It was operated by T. Cass Craven. It had a 25ft wide proscenium and there was also a café for the convenience of its patrons. Around 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system.

In June 1966 it went over to part-time bingo & films which closed on films around 1973 and it became a full time bingo club. This closed in 1984. The building was converted into a car parts showroom. By 2003 it had been demolished and a new building on the site houses a Co-Op funeral home.
