This Cineplex Odeon theatre opened on August 7, 1998, with 10 screens and 3,502 seats, which helped the cinema earn the title for the largest theatre in Canada in terms of seats until it was overtaken by Le Cinemas Guzzo’s Taschereau 18 near Montreal opened with 4,265 seats in October. Cineplex renamed it Sheppard Centre in 2012, removing the “Grande” branding.
The theatre closed on the night of June 13, 2013, and all operations moved to the recently acquired Cineplex Cinemas Empress Walk nearby. Currently, both the theatre and Sheppard Centre have been redeveloped, removing all traces of the theatre’s existence.
