Here’s a theatre with a very unique name. The Si-Non Theatre opened in February 1916. At the time, the theatre was under competition with the Braswell Theatre which is known to be it’s sister theatre when the theatre opened as the same company operated both theatres. The Si-Non Theatre continued its run after the Braswell Theatre closed in 1922. On June 14, 1929, the 1927 Warner Bros film “The Jazz Singer” starring Al Jolson is known to be the first sound film the Si-Non Theatre played. The theatre had been equipped with a Phototone sound system. The theatre closed in 1931.
