The Harlem Drive-In Theatre in the Pratt City neighborhood was located opposite of the Grand Terrace Ballroom where legendary bands including The Temptations played. The Harlem Drive-In opened in September 1955 playing African-American films and billed itself as the first drive-in in the Birmingham area to have been built for African-American patrons.
The Harlem Drive-In featured widescreen projection to accommodate CinemaScope features. It would eventually go out of business in August 1961 and has since been razed.

The Only Information I Can Find Is On The Birmingham News Newspapers. The Theater Operated From 1955 Until The End Of The 1961 Season. Wasn’t Listed In 1962 Or 1963.
First ad placed on September 25th, 1955 and the last ads appearing in August 1961.
