Theatre

This theatre appears on the 1918 Sanborn in the ground floor of the Odd Fellows building, which was on the SW corner of N. 2nd Street and B Street.

This building was constructed early in 1894, and was a typical two-story brick structure with an iron front. It extended roughly 2/3 of the way to the alley behind it, which is still visible on the satellite view. Prior to its conversion to a theatre, the ground floor was home to a cobbler’s shop in the front, and a flour and feed warehouse in the larger rear section with access from B Street.

By 1918, the theatre occupied the entire ground floor, and a small wooden shed housing an electric motor had been constructed on the south side near the front. All of the structures on the west side of the block were demolished long ago, and the entire block is a grassy area. It is unclear what the address was, but it would have been the highest odd number on the 100 block.
