Park Switzer & Son established tiny Bradshaw, Nebraska’s first movie theatre in 1916. The theatre proved so popular in its first days that the pair moved to a superior location on the east side of Lincoln Street that same year. In 1918, the Star Theatre was renamed the Liberty Theatre. F.T. Wettstead took on the operation deciding to close the operation in October of 1928 just days prior to the stock market crash.

On June 29, 1937, the Liberty Theatre made a comeback now wired for talking pictures. It launched with Charles Ruggles and Alice Brady in “Mind Your Own Business”. The theatre discontinued operations after a free screening on December 7, 1940.
