The Cinema Select was opened as a single screen in 1959. It was designed by architect Lucien Gauthier and had a seating capacity for 750 in orchestra and balcony levels.

In 1977 it was converted into a 5-screen cinema and re-named Studios Select. It was closed in September 2008. It was converted into retail use.
