Jim Hughes launched the Rialto Theatre on May 2, 1922 in the converted former retail home of the George D. Darling Furniture Store with the Selznick Pictures' film “A Man’s Home” starring Harry T. Morey, supported by the Harold Lloyd comedy, “I Do” and the local “Happy Four” orchestra.
Walter H. Simon proved the architectural sketch that gave the Rialto Theatre a new front and all new interior in the Summer of 1928. In 1930, the venue converted to sound to stay relevant. Fox Inter-Mountain Theaters Inc. closed the Rialto Theatre in 1944 during World War II when the troops left were moved out of the Army Air Base which, in turn, caused a downturn in business
But Fox Inter-Mountain Circuit remodeled the house with new used seating from Denver giving the Rialto Theatre one more chance. But the town was indifferent and the theatre hosted a wide array of four-wall screenings and special showings. The Rialto Theatre appears to have gone out of business in 1949.
