Shown on the 1911 Sanborn as a ‘5¢ Theatre’, this cinema was located in the northern storefront of an old two-story brick commercial building. The structure dated to sometime before 1885, and this space had long been a hardware store.
During conversion to a theatre, a wooden storeroom at the rear was replaced with a similar space in brick. This housed a 7hp gas engine and dynamo which was used to power the theatre.
The theatre remained in operation at least through 1920. Today, with some very unfortunate remodeling of the ground floor, it appears to be apartments.

Ohio has a poor copy of the 1940 update to the 1931 Sanborn, which shows this as a store with a lodge room above.
Stupidly neglected to get a picture of this building, which has a certain scabby charm.
Added a shot of downtown in which the Star can just barely be seen.
