The Emelka Palast was opened on 13th January 1928. It was designed by architect Erwin Bernhard and had 600-seats in the orchestra and 240-seats in the balcony. The cinema was operated by Emelka Theater GmbH, based in Munich. In 1933 it was taken over by Jakob Heidenkampf. It was closed in 1941 due to wartime conditions.
It was reopened in 1950. The size of the stage was 6x4x8 meters. In 1954 the cinema was operated by Heinz Heidenkampf. In 1957 it was equipped with a CinemaScope screen and a 4-channel stereophonic sound system was installed. Th B 12 projectors were by Bauer. The cinema was renovated in 1958. The seats were by Schroeder & Henzelmann and were red & yellow. In 1980 the cinema was twinned.
The Emelka Palast was closed on 10th April 1985 and was later demolished.
