The Empire Theatre opened on November 11, 1906 with The Golden Musical Company presenting a big vaudeville program. It was owned by William Weston, who had built the Empire Theatre in San Francisco earlier in the year. It showed both stage productions and later films. It was still open as a movie theatre in 1915, but had closed by 1926.
