The Filmpalast was opened on 14th March 1939 with 1,200-seats in orchestra & balcony levels. It was the largest cinema in Augsburg at this time. The cinema was operated by Willy Koch & Ernst Gutsch Filmtheater Gesellschaft. The cinema was designed by architects Vaeth & Weber. In 1955 a Miracle Mirror CinemaScope screen was installed. In 1965 it was renovated and part of the cinema was converted into a supermarket. In 1980 the Filmpalast was twinned with seating for 587 & 134 seats. Later a third screen was assed.
After the CinemaxX Multiplex Augsburg was opened, the Filmpalast was closed around 2001.
