Passage Theater

Located in the city center district of Altstadt-Nord. The Union Theater was opened in 1905 with 500-seats. It was operated by Union Theater GmbH-Pagu. In 1927 it was re-named Passage Theater and was operated by Firnich. In 1932 it was re-named Kino fur Jedermann and a sound system was installed. After 1941 the cinema was badly damaged by Allied bombs during World War II.

In 1954 a new Passage Theater opened at this site with 700-seats. It was designed by Koln based architect Hans Stumph. The B 12 projectors were by Bauer and a 4-channel stereophonic sound system by Klangfilm was installed. The size of the Magic Mirror CinemaScope screen was 4.6x 11.3 meters.

In 1991 the Ufa Theater AG Heinz Riech chain took over the operation. At this time the cinema was multiplexed into 7-screens. The cinema closed around 2000.
