The second theatre to the city of Lenox after the Olympic Theatre closed its doors in 1939 is the Lenox Theatre, which opened in February 1940.
Shortly later that year on March 16, 1940 during a screening of “Beware of Spooks” starring Joe E. Brown, the projection booth of the Lenox Theatre was caught on fire because of the projector. One of the most popular films at the Lenox Theatre is the 1939 smash “Gone With The Wind” and was played throughout the half of April and into the half of May 1940.
On November 29, 1953, the Lenox Theatre installed CinemaScope. At the time, the Lenox Theatre is still going powerful and very strong, and was still in operation since 1977 as a movie house including special kiddie shows. The closing date is unknown at this moment.
