The gala opening of the first Lynwood Theatre was celebrated August 14, 1925, with a movie, vaudeville acts, and the Ethel Abbott Dancers.
Film Daily Year Book 1928 gave the theatre a capacity of 900 seats.
The Lynwood Theatre was destroyed by an earthquake March 10, 1933, and a new Lynwood Theatre opened in 1935 at a different location on Long Beach Boulevard.
