Isis Theatre

Located in one of the storefronts of a large three-story block, this theatre appears on the 1912 Sanborn, in a space which was previously a dry goods store. Located less than half a block from what may have been the Ritz Theatre, it did not survive the competition, and by 1920 the space was an auto parts store.

This entire half of the block, which dated to before 1883, was demolished many years ago, and is now a huge vacant lot.

The Isis was listed in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory.

Joe - I think this must be the Palace. This was on the west side, 2 doors north of 2nd. The date on the photo you found must be close, but this theater had not yet opened in 1906.

Yes, it has to be the first Palace. I wonder if the Isis was the unidentified theater at 64 S. Broadway? It was almost across the street from this one.

We’ll need a time machine to answer that, I fear.
