Spring Hill Mall Theaters

Opened on February 27, 1981 by the Plitt Theatres chain of Chicago, this quad was located at the Spring Hill Mall in West Dundee/Carpentersville operated for much of its life as a first-run theater. It later expanded to 6-screens. When larger and more up-to-date multiplexes began opening nearby, the Spring Hill began to lose some of its audience. In 1997, having being taken over by Cineplex Odeon, it switched to a format of bargain priced second-run films. Leased by Classic Cinemas from late-November 1997, the cinemas closed on April 17, 1998.

It was demolished in May of 2004 to make way for a Home Depot store.

This obviously was not a Plitt theater in 1998, since that chain had long since been absorbed into Cineplex. At the time of closure in 1998 it was operated by Classic Cinemas.
