The Corso Lichtspiele was opened on 1st September 1912 with 600-seats. In 1913 it was re-named Kammer Lichtspiele and was operated by Rheinische Lichtbild KG. The cinema was renovated in 1921 and was re-named Schauburg. A sound system was installed in 1934. It was demolished in 1944 by Allied bombs during World War II
In 1949 it was rebuilt with seating provided in orchestra and balcony levels. It was operated by Kark Derendorf. In 1976-1977 the cinema was twinned and the seating capacity was reduced to 261. It was renovated in 1990.
