The Tel Aviv Cinerama opened on 14th July 1966 with “Seven Wonders of the World” and was the only Cinerama building in Israel until 1986. The circular theatre building contained a single strip 70mm projector and a 3-strip Cinerama projection system. The size of the screen was 110ft x 50ft. The cinema was owned by Tel Aviv Yafo Municipality. Around the 1970’s the cinema was closed and became a live theatre for concerts, conference centre, discothque and later a TV studio. Many top names appeared at the Cinerama theatre including Jethro Tull, Radiohead, Lou Reed or Rage Against the Machine. The building was demolished in 2016.
