The latest franchisee to the Jerry Lewis Cinema family was in Liberty, Missouri. This location offered family-friendly films and one-button automated projection operation. It launched in Liberty’s west side with Raquel Welch in “The Kansas City Bomber” on August 2, 1972. Showing off their presentational abilities, when “The Cowboys” played there that September, the Wood Splinters Square Dancers were the live, pre-show entertainment.
But in 1973, Lewis left the Circuit and parted ways with parent company, Network Cinema Corporation. The company disconnected its phones in early-April. The company folded and, apparently, so did the Jerry Lewis Cinema on May 30, 1974.
But in February of 1975, the theatre appears to have reopened as the Westowne Cinema. And in October of 1976, the Westowne Cinema appears to have gone out of business.
