On the 1914 Sanborn, movies are being shown in a small wooden single-story storefront, one of a few that lingered on the northern half of this block as downtown grew. The building appears on the 1885 map as a post office, and in 1907 was a saloon.
The building was just north of the alley, and was narrow at the front, until it extended beyond the shop to the north, when it widened. This was likely a very basic operation, and by 1922, all the older wooden structures had disappeared. While it was active, the address was 118 N. 2nd Street, despite the fact that 118A was the storefront in the much more substantial building just south of the alley.
The current building was most likely constructed within a few years after the 1922 map was issued.
