The Screening Room was open inside The Ritz-Carlton hotel in downtown Clayton, Mo on November 9, 2001 with the Kevin Kline drama “Life Is A House”.
Harman Mosely, whose operated several theaters in the past, decide to open one in the hotel as an alternate to the megaplexes, having an unusal ambiance to movie going.
It shown few exclusive movies like “Affair Of The Necklace”, “Charlotte Grey”, “Late Marriage” and the Director’s Cut of the Oscar Winner “Amadeus”.
Things declined with Mosley’s Galleria 6 nearby reopened after remodeling, mainly showing second run fair, and an addition to the hotel wanting to reclaim the space for mini-conventions and meetings.
The theater last advertised film “Read My Lips” was shown on September 19, 2002. After that, the movie listings for the next two weeks said “Call For Showtimes”, signs that it officially closed during that period.
