Ufa Bavaria Lichtspiel Palast

In 1921 the Hotel Monopol was transformed into the Monopol Theatre which operated as a 350-seat cinema. The building was demolished in World War II by Allied bombs.

At the site of the demolished Monopol Theater, the Neues Bavaria Theater was built and opened in 1951. It originally had 800 seats in orchestra and balcony levels. The cinema was operated by Hanns Virnich Bavaria Theater im Geko. In 1958 CinemaScope was added and two EX projectors by Ernemann were installed. The 683-seats were by Schroeder & Henzelmann. In 1980 the cinema was re-named Bavaria Filmtheater. In 1995 it was taken over by Ufa and re-named Ufa Bavaria Lichtspiel Palast.

The cinema was closed in 2001.
