On August 8, 1953, Billboard reported, “Western Drive-In, accommodating 350 cars, has been opened at Melville, Sask., by Vogue Theatres, Ltd., a company headed by Jack Zaitrow, owner of the Roxy Theatre and Princess Theatre in Melville”. On October 24 that year, the magazine wrote that Hugh Vassos, owner of the Star Dust Drive-In in Melville, had purchased all three of Zaitrow’s local theatres.
