The Playhouse Theatre was built in the mid-1960’s as a replacement to the Capitol Theatre which was destroyed by fire in February 1964 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).

Since closing as a movie theatre, the Playhouse Theatre has been operated for many years as a under-21’s nightclub name H20.
