The Alamo Theatre was a silent-era venue launched by Mrs. A.M. Osborne on February 26, 1914. Four years later, she would buy the competing Family Theatre (later Rivoli Theatre) to have two theatres in downtown Monmouth. It appears that the Alamo Theatre ceased operations on March 30, 1921. The entire operation was later listed in the classifieds with the projectors, a piano, and 250 seats. Because the Rivoli Theatre was the town’s long running movie house, few remember the Alamo Theatre.
