Kurfilmtheater Obersthausen

The Lichtspiele am Kurhausplatz was opened in 1927 with a capacity of 280-seats. It was operated by Anton Merz. In 1928 it was re-named Lichtspielehaus. In 1932 it was equipped with a Klangfilm sound system The E VII projectors were by Ernemann. In 1940 it was re-named Kurfilmtheater. In 1945 it was taken over by Ilse Kubaschewski. She also operated the legendary Gloria-Palast in Munich and was a very successful film producer & distributor (The Gloria-Palast in Munich has its own page on Cinema Treasures) In 1993 the Kurfilmtheater was taken over by Florian Stiglhofer. The screen size is 42 square metres. It is a member of the Europa Cinemas group of art house cinemas.
