The Coronet Theatre opened as a playhouse on June 11, 1947 by Freda Berkoff, a member of a famous Russian dancing family. It opened with the play “Skin of Our Teeth starring Jane Wyatt & Keenan Wynn. In the late-1940’s it began screening experimental films from directors such as Kenneth Anger. It was also home to Paul Ballard’s Hollywood Film Society and from 1950 it was taken over by Raymond Rohauer screening classic movies, experimental and foreign films until 1960. It started showing adult movies on October 7th, 1970 with "Do Me!, Do Me!, Do Me!” and its adult movies days ended in 1974.
In December 1968 the West Coast Premiere production of the play “Fortune and Men’s Eyes” was performed here, directed by and starring Sal Mineo, which ended its run in July 1969. Other successful productions in recent years have been “The Vagina Monologues”, “Puppetry of the Penis” and “Snoopy The Musical”. Since 2008 it operates as a music & comedy club named Largo at the Coronet.

This theatre stopped ads for adult movies in 1974.
Opened June 11, 1947 with the play, “The Skin of Our Teeth” with Jane Wyatt and Keenan Wynn. Judy Garland was in the audience with her husband.
