The Joy Theatre opened on April 5, 1936 with Sidney Fox in “School for Girls”. It was operated by Harry Fulham. In December 1938 it was taken over by the S.G. Fry Theaters chain. It was closed on August 29, 1959. The lease was sold to Citizens First National Bank of Tyler.
