Walter and G.W. Brown of Brown’s Theatre launched their second theatre on Main Street, the Mystic Theatre, on December 13, 1910. The Brown’s had also shown motion pictures at their Brown’s Theatre, the former opera house in the city. They also opened a Mystic Theatre in Norman, Oklahoma. J.W. Simpson took on the Mystic Theatre and also opened the neighboring Main Street Airdome in the warmer months operating just two seasons in 1915 and 1916.

Rene E. Stone purchased the Mystic Theatre in October of 1916 from Simpson closing it and opening a new theatre in the J.J. Frank Building. Stone razed the airdome and had the Mystic Theatre building retrofitted for other retail purposes.

See the Dooley Theatre on CT for the continued saga of the new theatre opened by Rene E. Stone mentioned in the overview.
