Teatro Centrale

This place existed in the 1940’s and probably earlier as a cinema. In later years it became a theatre for stage events and more recently a dinner theatre with entertainment and outdoor tables for casual dining. Web images showing the interior reveal many features of the original venue, including a balcony. An exterior canopy survives over the entrance to the theatre-restaurant. The location is quite close to the Church of the Gesu' and not far from Piazza Venezia.

On May 18, 1940 the Cinema Centrale was showing “Il pirata ballerina” (the 1936 American film “Dancing Pirate” with Charles Collins and Frank Morgan.) Also on the program were stage comedy acts by the company of M. Maggio. From a listing in Il Messaggero.
