Located in the city centre district of St. Pauli in front of the famed Reeperbahn. The Union Theater was built and opened in 1913 by Gustav Zoder. In 1920 it was operated by H. Krude. In 1925 it was taken over by Willhelm Kuntz. In 1927 it was operated by Grids Munze who passed it back to Willhelm Kuntz in 1928, and he was the last operator. The Union Theater was destroyed by Allied bombs in 1941.
In 1951 a new Union Lichtspieltheater was built at a different address on Spielbudenplatz at number 24, opening in 1952. (this has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
