The 1918 Sanborn shows ‘Moving Pictures’ operating in a 1-2 story building with a blacksmith in the basement. S. 11th Street slopes quite steeply away from the intersection with Franklin Avenue, so this is not as odd as it might seem. The building appears on the 1885 map, as an implement dealer, and remains so until the 1910 map. The Princess Theatre had opened by 1914.
Although the building is on the NRHP inventory, it is passed over without any information. Pictures in the inventory show that by the 1980’s it had a very bland façade and housed a printer. Now, with a ‘Ye Olde Fake’ façade, it is used by the Chamber of Commerce and associated offices.

The Princess Theatre, 11th and Franklin, was one of two movie houses listed at Lexington in the 1914-1915 edition of The American Motion Picture Directory. No location was given fro the rival Evening Star Theatre.
