The following story ran in the June 6, 1960 issue of Boxoffice:
In 1947 the Higgins Theatre at Higgins, which was owned by Jake Sells, was destroyed in a tornado. After the theatre was rebuilt at a great deal of expense, it burned to the ground a few years later and the little town has been without a theatre ever since.
Recently a number of businessmen decided their small village needed a shot in the arm, so decided to put in a theatre. They went to Amarillo and bought the closed Rialto Theater equipment, lock, stock and barrel, and installed it in a remodeled store building. This 200-seater opened April 15, 1960 and business was good. The backers even bought the Rialto sign, which was hung in front of the theatre.
Among those cooperating in the venture were Knox Johnson, groceryman; Roy Sansing, who is president; Warren C. Jenkins, hardware dealer and secretary, and Gerald D. Laughlin, banker and treasurer. The operating policy was three changes a week.

Boxoffice, July 20, 1964: “Bob Nicholas, who recently took over the Rialto Theatre in Higgins, Tex., from a group of businessmen who had operated the place several years as a civic activity, died.”
The Rialto Theater of Higgins, TX was incorporated on April 4, 1960. This corporation was subsequently dissolved and succeeded by a new one with the same name on July 17, 1969.
