Cinema Fulgor

Opened in 1914, this was the cinema that was in the city of Rimini that director Federico Fellini grew up in and often mentioned in his recollections and paid vivid tribute to in some of his films such as “Amarcord” in 1973. Closed in 1980 and abandoned for years, it re-opened in 2018 after loving renovation and is a kind of historic monument of its kind in this city which has even renamed its airport after Fellini. The original auditorium seats 190 in orchestra and balcony levels, and there are 53 seats in a second auditorium.

The two auditoriums are named after Fellini himself and his wife Giulietta Masina who performed in so many of his films, including “La Strada,” “The Nights of Cabiria,” and “Juliet of the Spirits.” The larger auditorium is Sala Federico; the smaller is Sala Giulietta.

The original Fulgor first opened in 1914 and was run by the family of Ida Ravulli until 1980.

In Fellini’s 1973 “Amarcord” the Fulgor was reconstructed on the stages of Cinecitta' in Rome for certain scenes.
