Walhalla Kino

The Walhalla Theatree was built in 1897 with more than 1,400-seats. It was built as a ‘specialized’ theatre, presenting concerts, music, dance, variety and later films. The building had a bar in the basement, a conservatory, a cafe a wine bar and a bowling alley. In 1930 it was equipped with a 2 manual Welte theatre pipe organ. In 1980 the organ was removed from the building and was transported to Dusseldorf where it was renovated and today is installed in the Black Box at Filmmuseum, played to accompany silent films.

The Walhalla Theatre was closed in 2017 due to fire safety deficiencies. It is hoped that these can be overcome and the theatre reopened. The theatre operators have temporary moved to other premises in the city ehich have been renamed Walhalla Studio in Exil.
