This former small cinema of distinction took its name from the larger Cinema Capranica around the block at Piazza Capranica. It was opened by 1947. Closed as a cinema in recent years, it has been used as an assembly venue for various groups. It is located across from the Palazzo Montecitorio, seat of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.

I saw Pasolini’s “Salo' or the 120 Days of Sodom” again here in August 1985 after the Italian censors finally lifted restrictions on the film.
Rossellini’s landmark film “Paisa'” (Paisan) had its opening gala showing here on March 7, 1947 before continuing a regular run the next day at the Capranica and Imperiale.
A scene in the 2015 Italian film “Mia madre” takes place in the square in front of the Cinema Capranichetta. The movie, directed by and starring Nanni Moretti, also has Margherita Buy and John Turturro.
