The oldest cinema building still standing in Montpellier. The Cinematographe Pathe was built in 1908, and opened on 6th January 1909. The facade features several castings in stone of the Pathe cockrel logo. Seating was provided for 900 in orchestra & balcony levels. It closed as a cinema in 1980. Sadly the original interior decorations have been removed, leaving a bland auditorium.
On 9th April 1996 the facade was designated a National Monument. It is used for conferences and operates under the name Centre Rabelais.
