TVG Cinemas Central i-City

The world’s largest Samsung Onyx Cinema LED screen was on view at the opening of TVG Cinemas April 24, 2019.

Samsung notes Onyx requires no projector and gives ten times the brightness of projectors and with 4K resolution. Onyx has no line of sight requirements so theaters can be designed with more seating and allows for ambient light with no deterioration in picture quality. It is paired with a JBL Harmon surround sound system.

The Onyx, at latest count, is in 14 countries. In the United States, the first Onyx screen opened on April 20, 2018, at Pacific Theatres Winnetka in Chatsworth, California.

TVG Cinemas contain nine auditoriums seating 1,650, including an IMAX. Films are presented in Indonesian, Tamil, Thai, and English languages.

Currently presided over by CEO Yeoh Oon Lai, TVG was founded in 1994, as Tanjong Golden Village and in mid-2019 had 35 locations and 282 screens.
