Located in the village of Pilsley, to the south of Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The Palace Cinema was opened by 1935. It was equipped with a British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. It was listed as (Closed) in the 1936 edition of Kinematograph Year Book.
The Ritz Cinema (same building?) was opened by 1937 adjacent to the Methodist Church. It was initially equipped with an Imperial sound system. This was replaced by 1948 with British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. It had a 19ft wide proscenium. It was still open in 1958, but had closed by 1963. It has since been demolished and a Well Pharmacy now operates from a newly built building on the site.
