The Hotel Tequendama was built in 1959 transforming Bogota and still a destination into the 21st Century. But across the street was a theatrical statement, as well, by architects W. Miller Wilcox, Howard Batting and Benjamin Schalnger. El Teatro Olympia was a two-story, mid-century showplace and a dream of Dr. Guillermo Herrera Carrizosa.
The theatre’s name dates back to a previous theatre but was different in every way as a mid-century structure comprised of two-stories and lots of glass. Its staircase was visible from the street. Built by Cuellar, Serrano, Gomez and Cie, the structure remained into the 21st Century although converted to a bank.
