The Aspen Drive-In launched 1.5 miles south of Jackson on the Gibb Scott/Jim Simon ranch. It launched for Al Fay with Sal Mineo in Walt Disney’s “Tonka” on July 1, 1960. While most features played for a week or less, “The Godfather” bucked the trend playing two weeks. The Aspen Drive-In closed after the 1977 season.

A more accurate address (at least for Google Maps) is US-89 & S Park Loop Rd, Jackson, WY.
A 1967 aerial shows the drive-in intact and operations. By 1978, the drive-in was demolished and by 1983 no trace of it remained. Today, Movieworks 4 Cinema is one of several businesses that sit on the property.

Correct in spirit, though the original projection building, now surrounded by the Super 8 and other buildings, was still visible in the 1989 photo at HistoricAerials.
Coincidence? The MovieWorks Cinema 4 is precisely where that projection building used to be. I just submitted that tiny indoor theater to the database here.
BTW, Kenmore, I could use your help with a project. Would you please drop me a line at mkil gore@car load.com?
Opened on July 1st, 1960. Grand opening ad posted.
Last season: 1977
Why the name Aspen, isn’t Aspen in Colorado?
There’s a Aspen mountain near Rock Springs in Wyoming.
