Clyde C. Palmer launched the Crescent Theatre in downtown Hicksville in 1910 showing motion pictures. The theatre would compete against the Huber Theatorium in the Huber Opera House which also showed silent films.
Palmer sold the theatre in 1916 and under W. LaYon Boon, the theatre also was a scenic shop providing both scenery and photography services in the motion picture exhibition industry. When Boon sold to the Young Circuit in Northwest Ohio, both the Young also operated the Huber turned Capitol Theatre.
In 1929, the theatre was equipped for sound by Oliver Manufacturing. The theatre suffered a fire closing in 1931. It appears to have both re-opened and then closed in 1932. It was converted to other retail uses including a restaurant.
