William and Fred Smith operated the Grand Theatre, a silent movie theatre, in the store front below the Grand Opera House beginning on June 21, 1909. The theatre converted to sound and was taken over by the Miner Theatre Circuit.
The Grand Theatre closed March 7, 1949 with Randolph Scott in “Frontier Marshal” as the Miner Circuit opened its new State Theatre the next day. The city government took over the building converting it to office space.
