The Palace Theatre launched as a more contemporary silent-era venue than the aging Gem Theatre in West Helena. The theatre closed until sound was installed by operator J.F. Herd in December of 1931. It was still going in the television age under owners Macon and Sheared who also launched the Silver Star Theatre in West Helena. The Palace Theatre was closed in July 1955.
