The Texon Theatre was built in 1926 as a silent picture house. It re-launched with talkies on October 26, 1929 with the film “The Love Doctor” starring Richard Dix using the Royal Amplitone sound system. The sound system was purchased with funds provided by the Big Lake Oil Company. Improved sound was later installed. A fire in the projection booth on June 10, 1950 burned down the theatre ending its run.
