- Ford Taylor of the local Ford Theatre built a second theatre in town. It launched April 30, 1948 with June Allyson and Peter Lawford in “Good News”. The newly-constructed theatre cost $45,000 to build. It went out of business on September 7, 1975 after showing Ernest Borgnine in “The Devil’s Rain”. It reopened on October 11, 1975, renamed Big Lake Theatre, screening films on Saturday & Sunday only. It was short lived and finally closed on March 28, 1976. It later was used for retail purposes including a suntan parlor and a pie shop.
