Located in Saltash, Cornwall. The Regal Cinema was built in 1951 on the site of the bomb damaged Imperial Picture House. The Imperial Picture House had been bomb damaged during the blitz on Plymouth and Saltash in 1941, the target in Saltash being Brunell’s railway bridge, the railway gateway to Cornwall.
The Regal Cinema opened in 1951 and had 465 seats and was equipped with British Thomson-Houston(BTH) sound system. The auditorium was on a stadium style and decorated on modern lines. The Regal Cinema was owned and operated by the company “Regal Saltash Ltd.” The Regal Cinema closed on 5th July 1975 and was later demolished to make way for new shops in a building named Regal House.
