Frank Fain launched the Chief Drive-In on Highway 59 and the south leg of the bypass in May of 1952. On May 24, 1961, the screen burned down likely due to a wiring issue after a car ran into the electric sign. Fain’s plan to rebuild did not occur and the location became home to the Chamber of Commerce.
