The Iris Theatre was opened by 1930. It was a short lived ventures as it was listed as (Closed) in the 1932 - 1934 editions of Film Daily Yearbook. The town of Zapata was relocated to higher ground in 1953 when the original town was flooded upon completion of the Falcon Dam.
